GRNET participated in Keycloak DevDay 2025, held on March 6 in Darmstadt, Germany, with a presentation by software developers Konstantinos Georgilakis and Andreas Kozadinos. In their presentation, which took place on 10:15-11:00 (CET), they introduced an advanced group management extension for Keycloak, that enhances flexibility and control over group memberships. Keycloak DevDay is a premier Developer Day event for Keycloak, an open source identity and access management solution driven by a large community. Keycloak DevDay gave users of Keycloak for identity and Access Management the opportunity to network with maintainers, developers, and technical experts while learning about Keycloak best practices, usage and related enhancements.
GRNET’s presentation, entitled “Enhancing Group Management in Keycloak: A Flexible Extension for Dynamic Membership Control,” highlighted features such as role assignments within groups, membership duration settings, status tracking, and tools for streamlined group administration. This extension aimed to improve usability and empower administrators with advanced group management capabilities.
Moreover, GRNET was proud to participate in the Keycloak Maintenance and Friends Meeting on March 7, 2025, at the Red Hat offices in Frankfurt. This exclusive gathering of 17 Keycloak experts, including 4 Keycloak maintainers, offered a unique opportunity to collaborate on maintaining and improving the Keycloak ecosystem. During the meeting different topics related to production deployment, configuration, documentation and event logging were discussed. GRNET’s developers, Konstantinos Georgilakis and Andreas Kozadinos, joined the discussion, bringing their expertise and insights to the table. This meeting fostered collaboration amongst maintainers, extension developers and contributors, ensuring that Keycloak continues to evolve as a secure and scalable identity management solution for modern applications.
