The GÉANT Association (a not-for-profit organisation) was formed on 7 October 2014 from two separate organisations, DANTE and TERENA, which each started over 20 years ago. GEANT Association membership includes all European National Research and Education Networks. It is legally established in the Netherlands and day-to-day operations are carried out by the association’s staff (100 FTE), based in Amsterdam (NL) and Cambridge (UK).
The GÉANT Association is now seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer. This role is crucial for the future development of the association and the strengthening of networks and related services for the benefit of research and education. The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for maintaining and further developing strong relationships with National Research and Education Networks and the European Commission and with other partners. The individual appointed to this role will be an ambassador for the association and offer strategic leadership and vision. The Chief Executive Officer will have responsibility for day-to-day operations and the management of major international collaborations.
Candidates should have a strong track record in working with multiple stakeholders in an international environment and in partnership and consensus building. They should have experience gained at a senior level with a high-tech organisation and have exceptional communication and leadership skills. Demonstrable experience of securing public funding and working with regulatory frameworks at a national and EU level is essential. Strong management skills are essential and candidates should bring the ability to build and mentor diverse teams.
