Description

The National Blood Center (E.K.E.A.) and National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (GRNET), are implementing a project for the "procurement of software for a blood donation information system by using internet technologies.

By implementing the project, the National Blood Center in collaboration with GRNET, aim to substantially upgrade the organisation and digitization of the National Blood Donation System. In this context, the currently project "Central electronic services for the management of the National Register of Voluntary Blood Donors " is being expanded in order to enable the National Blood Donation System to effectively implement the European quality standards and traceability requirements for blood products and to improve the internal organisation and operation of the blood services with the Blood Centers and the National Blood Center.

Upon the implementation of the project, the overall management of blood and its derivatives, the management of transfusions, the support of hemovigilance and the management of hemotherapy will be upgraded. An increase in the quality and safety of circulating blood is also expected, while in addition, there will be multiple benefits for citizens and blood centers, among which the simplification and acceleration of blood donors and patients service procedures, as well as the minimization of the administrative burden to the competent blood donation services.

The project is implemented within the framework of the O.P. "Public Sector Reform " and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and National resources .
