
The aim of the CARMINE project is to help European metropolitan communities become more resilient to climate change by co-creating tools, strategies, and plans based on scientific knowledge to strengthen adaptation and mitigation actions, in line with the EU's mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
The main benefits of the project include:
- Improved resilience of cities to extreme climate events.
- Decision support services based on impacts and multi-level climate governance.
- Strengthened cooperation between local and regional actors for policy-making.
- Development and implementation of both traditional and nature-based solutions.
- Scientifically documented methodologies for adaptation plans at the local level.
- Enhanced preparedness through early warning and risk management systems.
GRNET, as an affiliated entity of the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, undertakes:
- End-user and policy maker role, contributing to the formulation of objectives and results.
- Support for the "climate twins" in the project.
- Participation in and strengthening of the MedEWSa ecosystem.
- Actions to disseminate and communicate the project results.
- Participation in all relevant actions and tasks as specified in the Grant Agreement and in partner meetings.
In particular, GRNET will contribute to:
- the creation and organization of "Living Labs" in the Study Areas,
- the assessment of socio-economic vulnerability and risks,
- the joint development and distribution of the Heat Health Risk Digital Twin for Athens.
