Registrations open for GreenDIGIT Autumn School 2026

The GreenDIGIT Autumn School 2026 will take place on 14–15 October 2026 in Volos, Greece, bringing together students, researchers and digital infrastructure operators for a two-day, hands-on learning experience focused on reducing the environmental impact of Digital Research Infrastructures (RIs).

Hosted by the University of Thessaly, the Autumn School will explore practical approaches to more sustainable computing, combining expert presentations and discussions on European environmental policies, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and green governance with technical sessions and interactive laboratory activities.

The programme will address key challenges in measuring and reducing the environmental footprint of research infrastructures, with a focus on real-time energy monitoring, infrastructure telemetry and carbon-aware workload scheduling. Participants will also explore approaches to monitoring energy consumption across computing and networking environments, optimising resource utilisation and improving the sustainability of digital services.

By combining policy perspectives with practical tools and technical expertise, the GreenDIGIT Autumn School aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate sustainability considerations into the design, operation and management of digital research infrastructures.

The event offers an opportunity for the research and digital infrastructure communities to exchange knowledge, explore emerging solutions and contribute to more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible research computing across Europe.
