On July 15, 2026, the EUNOMIA.AI project held its official kick-off meeting online, marking the launch of a 36-month initiative to bring trustworthy Generative AI into European public administrations. More than 80 representatives from Member States’ consortium partners attended the event, a project coordinated by Spanish Agencia Digital de Andalucía (ADA).
During the meeting, partners presented the project plans and priorities for the coming months aligned on the project’s roadmap, covering topics from AI development and safety compliance to infrastructure, piloting, and communication.
The consortium brings together 33 organisations from 14 European countries (Austria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and Spain), united by a shared vision: to help public administrations work more efficiently and deliver faster and improved services to citizens through the use of Generative AI (GenAI) solutions.
About EUNOMIA.AI
Funded under the Digital Europe Programme, EUNOMIA.AI is building GenAI tools designed specifically for public administrations. The project aims to deliver more efficient and accessible public services, create scalable blueprints for EU-wide adoption, and build a collaborative European AI community to ensure lasting impact and adoption.
The project will pilot use cases across four strategic domains: Simplification & Compliance, Rule-as-Code, Virtual Assistance, and Multimodal Automation. All solutions are built on European open-source technology, reinforcing the EU’s technological sovereignty, and follow a “compliance-by-design” approach to ensure alignment with the AI Act and GDPR from the start.
With 33 organisations actively involved, EUNOMIA.AI will deploy GenAI solutions in 25 public administrations and integrate them into at least 15 public services, with an ultimate goal to create scalable blueprints for EU-wide adoption.
GRNET’s Role in the Project
GRNET plays a central role in EUNOMIA.AI, leading two of the project’s core areas of work: the development, integration, and standardisation of GenAI models and applications, and the project’s communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities. GRNET holds a leading role at the heart of both the technical and outreach dimensions of the initiative, driving the design and fine-tuning of European GenAI solutions while ensuring that the project’s results are communicated across public administrations, policymakers, and citizens across Europe.
Looking Ahead
Over the next three years, the consortium will work to demonstrate that European AI can transform public services while upholding the values of transparency, sovereignty, and citizen trust, making everyday public services more accessible.
EUNOMIA.AI aspires to provide GenAI piloted services to public administrations with a vision to help modernize service provision and assist them in their efforts to provide a more flexible public service delivery to all European citizens, providing transparency, inviting feedback, ensuring inclusivity and building trust around the ethical use of technology.
