The AgData Autumn School 2026 will take place from 3 to 6 November 2026 in Velventos, Western Macedonia, Greece, bringing together early-career researchers from across Europe to explore the role of data-driven technologies in advancing sustainable agriculture. Organised within the framework of the Agriculture of Data (AgData) partnership, the four-day event will offer a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration around the future of digital and green agriculture.
The programme is built around the AgData Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), providing participants with a multidisciplinary learning experience at the intersection of data science, agronomy, environmental science, socio-economic and policy dimensions, as well as ethics and data governance.
The programme focuses on three key objectives:
- Building proficiency in data-driven agriculture;
- Promoting mutual learning among peers working in digital and green agriculture;
- Strengthening interdisciplinary research methods for PhD candidates and early-stage postdoctoral researchers.
The Autumn School is open to PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers (up to three years after completing their doctorate) with backgrounds in agriculture, geoinformatics, unmanned aerial systems (UAVs), remote sensing, Earth observation, environmental sciences, data science, artificial intelligence and related disciplines. A total of 22 participants, representing the AgData partner countries, will be selected to take part.
As a partner in the AgData project, GRNET contributes its expertise in digital infrastructures, data management and European research collaboration, supporting the implementation of the partnership’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. Through its participation, GRNET helps strengthen Europe’s capacity to develop innovative, data-driven solutions for more sustainable, resilient and competitive agri-food systems.
The AgData partnership is a Horizon Europe co-funded initiative that seeks to accelerate the digital and green transition of agriculture by promoting the effective use of data, artificial intelligence, Earth observation and other advanced digital technologies. By fostering collaboration between research organisations, public authorities and industry, the partnership aims to develop innovative solutions that support climate adaptation, environmental sustainability and evidence-based agricultural policies across Europe.
