PHAROS AI Factory, Greece’s national ecosystem for accelerating Artificial Intelligence innovation, participated in the Digital Heritage Summit 2026, held on 25–29 May 2026 at the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol. As part of the Summit, PHAROS took part in the “Twin it! Policy Roundtable: 3D and AI for Europe’s Culture and Heritage”, on 26 May 2026.
The roundtable, organised under the auspices of the Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, Dr. Demetris Skourides, brought together senior policymakers, researchers and technologists to explore the role of AI and 3D technologies in preserving and advancing Europe’s cultural heritage. The discussion addressed the development of data spaces for cultural heritage, the application of AI in digitisation initiatives and the strategic frameworks needed to scale these efforts across Europe.
Stefanos Kollias, Professor Emeritus at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Chairman of the Board at GRNET and Coordinator of PHAROS AI Factory, participated in the moderated multi-perspective discussion 3D and AI for Europe’s Culture and Heritage, presenting insights on how PHAROS, as the only EuroHPC AI Factory with a dedicated mandate for the Greek language and cultural heritage, is positioned to contribute to this European agenda. The discussion also featured Ines Vodopivec (AI4LAM) and Marco Medici (3D-4CH Competence Centre), and was moderated by Sofie Taes of the Europeana Network Association.
