DAEDALUS Supercomputer featured in the Infocom Today Podcast #170 on 5G, HPC and the Future of 6G

The new Supercomputer DAEDALUS and its role in the development of artificial intelligence in Greece were the focus of the episode of Infocom.gr’s “Infocom Today” podcast, which was published on May 29, 2026. The feature highlights the project’s progress, the technical characteristics of the infrastructure and its contribution to strengthening the Greek innovation and AI ecosystem.

In the podcast it is mentioned that DAEDALUS will serve as the technological core of the PHAROS AI Factory, playing a pivotal role in strengthening Greece’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, research, and innovation through advanced high-performance computing infrastructures.

The supercomputer will have a computing power of 89 petaflops and advanced interconnections of up to 400 Gbps, offering performance approximately 150 times higher than that of the existing national supercomputer ARIS. Its capabilities are expected to support demanding applications in artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and scientific research, enhancing the country’s competitiveness at the European level.

The project is being implemented with a total budget of 58.9 million euros with funding from the RRF, NextGeneration EU & EuroHPC JU, and is coordinated by the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology – GRNET –  operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence. The infrastructure will be available to a wide range of users, including businesses, startups, universities, research organizations, and public sector entities, contributing to the creation of a strong national innovation ecosystem centered on artificial intelligence.
