GRNET participated in the SONIC Project stakeholder event on 11/6 in Athens, joining leading experts, researchers, policymakers, and infrastructure providers in discussions on the future of cybersecurity in Europe.
Dimitris Mitropoulos, Head of the Reliability Engineering Directorate at GRNET & Associate Professor at NKUA, shared valuable insights on safeguarding public digital services and critical infrastructures at scale. During his talk, he presented GRNET’s cloud-native platform that supports Greek government services, discussing its architecture and key capabilities for reliability, scalability, observability, and security. Through real-world use cases and operational experiences, he demonstrated how modern engineering practices enable the delivery of resilient and secure public-sector digital services. He also discussed innovative approaches for analyzing software security across complex technology stacks, highlighting recent advances that help organizations better understand software dependencies, identify potential risks, and strengthen the security posture of large-scale systems.
The stakeholder event served as a valuable platform for dialogue among key actors in the cybersecurity landscape, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to address emerging cyber threats and strengthen Europe’s digital resilience. Participants explored current challenges and opportunities in cybersecurity, emphasizing the role of research, innovation, and cross-sector cooperation in building a safer digital future.
GRNET’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that advance cybersecurity capabilities, foster knowledge sharing, and contribute to the development of secure and trusted digital infrastructures at both national and European levels.
