New Board of Directors for GRNET – National Infrastructures for Research and Technology SA

The kick- off meeting of GRNET new board of Directors appointed by the Minister of State and Digital Governance, marks the launch of a new era for the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology S.A., former “Greek Research and Technology Network”. The new chairman of the board is Prof. Stefanos Kollias, Division of Computer Science, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. GRNET will continue its twenty-plus years successful path, developing the most advanced networking, cloud computing and IT infrastructures and services.
“With creativity, vision and team work spirit, we will develop systems and digital services which integrate modern technologies of big data, artificial intelligence and learning, in order to meet contemporary challenges, especially those arising from the new GRNET role under the auspices Ministry of Digital Governance” said Prof. Stefanos Kollias, in his address to GRNET staff, during the handover of chair by outgoing Chairman, Prof. Panayiotis Tsanakas, NTUA, who successfully served three terms in office.
Aristides Sotiropoulos was appointed as the GRNET’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), during the Board of Directors first meeting. The composition of the new GRNET Board is as follows:

  • Chief Executive Officer: Aristidis Sotiropoulos, GRNET – National Infrastructures for Research and Technology
  • Deputy Chairman: Athanassios Kakarountas, Assistant Professor, University of Thessaly
