Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

The National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (GRNET) is expanding its cloud computing service portfolio offered to the Greek research and academic community by now including access to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

Members of the Greek research and academic community can now apply for resources and services available in the full Google Cloud product catalogue.

Applications can be submitted via email to helpdesk@gcp.grnet.gr. Each request should include the following information:

  • Description of the purpose of use, including the project’s title and a short summary.
  • Name and capacity of the scientific supervisor.
  • Institution or laboratory that will utilize the resources.
  • Requested duration of resource usage — up to six (6) months, with the possibility of renewal.
  • Estimated cost of services, calculated using the Google Cloud Pricing Calculator and included as a link in the email.

Important Dates:
The previous application period has ended. A new application cycle will be announced soon – stay tuned.

Budget:
Project applications for grants may request the use of Google Cloud services valued between €2,500.00 and €250,000.00.
Upon approval by GRNET, the allocated amount will become available to the scientific supervisor for the utilization of the approved GCP resources and services.

Scientific Supervisor:
The scientific supervisor will have full discretion to manage the approved budget on the GCP infrastructure, as well as full responsibility for the use of the resources and services, data management, and compliance with applicable policies.

Acknowledgment in Publications:
Any research publications resulting from the use of the granted resources must include the acknowledgment:

“The resources were granted with the support of GRNET.”
