Description

Skills4EOSC: Skills for the European Open Science commons - creating a training ecosystem for Open and FAIR science.

The Skills4EOSC project aims to create a pan-European network of Competence Centers (CC) in order to accelerate the upskilling of European researchers and harmonise the training of new professionals for managing scientific data.

Over the next three years, the project partners will work together to provide Open Science Commons and to create an EOSC-ready skilled European workforce, connecting existing competence centres (CCs) in open science and scientific data management. The aim is to develop methodologies, activities and training resources to unify the current training landscape into a collaborative and reliable ecosystem and to provide dedicated community-specific support to leverage the potential of EOSC for open and data-intensive research.

The CCs represented by the Skills4EOSC partners play a pivotal role in drafting national plans for Open Science and in liaising with scientific communities. They also have close access to policy makers and related funds. The Skills4EOSC project will leverage this reference role to establish a pan-European network of CCs on Open Science and data, coordinating the work done at the national level to up-skill professionals in this field.

The Skills4EOSC CC network will drive the co-creation of harmonized trainer accreditation pathways, academic and professional curricula and quality assurance for attaining skills, recognition frameworks, and learning material creation methodologies.

In the context of the project GRNET’s main involvement concerns the offer of training on Open Science and the usage of data in evidence-based policy for civil servants and policymakers and empower CCs, researchers and “honest brokers” through the offering of resources to carry out training for this target.

Skills4EOSC project is coordinated by Consortium GARR and supported by 44 partners in 18 European countries, (Italy, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Estonia, Spain and the United Kingdom).
