GraspOS – Next Generation Research Assessment to Promote Open Science

GraspOS – Next Generation Research Assessment to Promote Open Science
Funding
Horizon, European Research Executive Agency
Duration
1/1/2023 - 31/12/2025
Description

The GraspOS (next Generation Research ASsessment to Promote Open Science) project aims to create and implement a data infrastructure in order to support policy reforms of Open Science practices and pave the way towards a research assessment system that incorporates Open Science practices and accelerates their adoption in Europe.

A key benefit of the project is the extension of the EOSC ecosystem with tools and services that will facilitate the monitoring of the use of different types of research services and their outputs (publications, datasets, software) and accelerate the integration of the benefits promoted by Open Science practices.

The tools and services that will be developed through the implementation of the GraspOS project are based on multiple metric data sources (e.g. OpenCitations, Scholexplorer) including capabilities offered by the EOSC Core platform, which are brought together within the project and take into account both the current guidelines for Responsible Research Assessment (RRA), as provided by initiatives such as DORA and Leiden Manifesto, as well as suggestions from a variety of relevant stakeholders.

The main role of GRNET, as an EGI.eu Council Participant, is to design an impact assessment service for the services offered by the EOSC portal service providers (EOSC Portal).
