The GN5-2 project is a complementary project to other projects being implemented (GN5-IC1), under the Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) signed by the European Commission with the GÉANT consortium partners.
The aim of the project is to provide scientists, researchers, educators and students with access to connectivity and collaboration services needed to support evidence-based decision making, knowledge transfer and ensure effective collaboration of virtual research and learning communities around the world.
The project will benefit the scientific, research and education community by providing faster, resilient, flexible and secure connectivity and collaboration for a growing volume of data, enabling near real-time access to applications that support evidence-based decision making in society, and effective collaboration of virtual research and learning communities worldwide.
Through GN2, the GÉANT network will maintain the functionality of established GÉANT services, offering reliable, secure and state-of-the-art high-speed network services, together with authentication mechanisms to researchers and other network users across Europe.
An additional benefit of the project is to maintain cutting-edge security for the GÉANT community by developing and implementing a number of security products and services.
