Data Hub Relay 2

Data Hub Relay 2
Funding
European Space Agency (ESA)
Duration
1/8/2022 - 31/7/2027
Description

The objective of "Data Hub Relay 2" is to support the operations of a Data Hub Relay (DHR) that provides continuity for mass dissemination capabilities dedicated to well-established partners, such as the partners of the Ground Cooperation Department.

The DHR will promote additional activities in view of increased cooperation between the network of relays, with the aim of integrating new data access services that will be enabled by taking into account a broader ecosystem of capabilities in the coming years.

GRNET's role is to provide the necessary infrastructure to host DHR "as a service" for 36 months. The services to be supported are as follows:

  • Four-week rolling archive with Copernicus Sentinel Data (indicative capacity of ~240TiB must be provided).
  • Internet access allowing data sharing with the national Mirror site (operated by EAA based on GRNET infrastructure) as well as other DHRs (required network capacity between 5 and 10Gb/s)
  • Ensuring sufficient computing power and I/O in relation to the storage infrastructure in line with the total internet access capacity to avoid disruptions in the operation of the DHR.
