GRNET participated in a high-level roundtable discussion on the proposed Digital Networks Act (DNA) on 3/6 in Athens about the future of Europe’s digital infrastructure, bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry representatives and digital ecosystem stakeholders to exchange views on investment, innovation, and connectivity in Europe.
Among the Greek participants were GRNET Deputy Chairman and Assistant Professor at NKUA Dimitris Katsianis, as well as representatives of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence.
Professor D. Katsianis highlighted the critical role that public digital infrastructures will play in the implementation of the DNA. Research and education networks, as well as advanced computing facilities such as GRNET’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures, are expected to be key enablers of Europe’s digital transformation, supporting innovation, AI development, research excellence and secure, resilient connectivity across borders.
GRNET remains actively engaged in public consultations and policy discussions at both national and European levels, contributing its expertise to help shape the future of Europe’s connectivity ecosystem and digital infrastructure landscape. Through its participation, GRNET continues to advocate for a collaborative approach that leverages both public and private investments to strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty, competitiveness and innovation capacity.
