The National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (GRNET S.A.) participated in the two-day Interoperability Testing Event for the use cases of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet), organized within the framework of the POTENTIAL project. The event took place on February 3-4, 2025, in Warsaw, Poland, bringing together experts and stakeholders from across Europe to shape a secure and interoperable European framework for digital identities.
Over the course of two days of intensive collaboration, 140 participants from all over Europe conducted 159 interoperability tests within a dedicated testing environment (playground) compliant with Selective Disclosure JSON Web Token (SD-JWT) and MDOC. During these tests, 15 digital identity wallets were evaluated across various scenarios, while 20 user services were assessed, contributing to the development of a secure and functional European Digital Identity Wallet. The successful completion of the tests marks a significant milestone for cross-border compatibility between wallet solutions and verifiers, bringing the project one step closer to achieving its goals.
The POTENTIAL project aims to enhance interoperability and foster the widespread adoption of the EUDI Wallet across Europe, with a strong focus on creating a secure, reliable, and user-friendly digital identity for all citizens.
The event also provided a platform for discussing key challenges and future development prospects, with a focus on:
- Interoperability and collaboration for building a unified European digital ecosystem.
- Security and privacy protection in the next generation of digital identities.
- ΕUDI Wallet applications in the use cases of eGov services, opening a bank account, SIM card registration, driving licenses, qualified e-Signature, and ePrescriptions.
