HellasQCI participated at the EuroQCI Thematic Working Group (ETWG) Workshop, taking place on 26-28 November 2024 in Brussels, with the aim to gain insights on the state of play of EuroQCI

This three-day event, organised by PETRUS and hosted by Deutsche Telekom Global Business Belgium, brought together a wide range of stakeholders from the EuroQCI community, including representatives from the European Commission, Member States, and relevant projects, to discuss the advancement of the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI).

The workshop served as a forum for participants to receive updates on the PETRUS and NOSTRADAMUS projects, as well as the current status of EuroQCI. It also featured interactive sessions focused on shaping the future of EuroQCI, revisiting the roadmap, addressing key challenges for national deployment, examining the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) call for cross-border interconnection, reviewing decision support documents developed by the ETWG, and identifying critical topics to support the implementation of EuroQCI.

During the ETWG Workshop, HellasQCI representatives Sofia Papathanasopoulou, Head of Broadband Unit,  General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, Ministry of Digital Governance, Dr. Ilias Papastamatiou, GRNET, HellasQCI project coordinator and Ass. Professor George T. Kanellos, NKUA, HellasQCI Technical Coordinator, participated in discussions across the several thematic axes of the ETWG such as: Roadmap, Architecture, Interoperability and Use Cases. Moreover, Dr. Homer Papadopoulos, NCSRD, HellasQCI Dissemination and Communication work package leader, participated at the first day of the meetings. More importantly, Dr. Ilias Papastamatiou co-chaired the sessions on “National QCI Roadmap” with Torsten Siebert, from Fraunhofer and Saša Davidović, from CARNET, on key steps and projects to achieve EuroQCI 1st Generation. The active participation of the HellasQCI project team in these discussions is crucial in fostering strategic partnerships with all relevant stakeholders and promoting cross-border National QCI collaboration.
