Description

Lux4QCI aims to develop an advanced national Quantum Communication Infrastructure (QCI) and Luxembourg's first QKD (quantum key data) transport system network.

The project implementation envisages the design, development, procurement and deployment of the first experimental quantum communication infrastructure (QCI) network in Luxembourg.

The project will benefit and enhance the security of critical infrastructures and boost the scientific and technological capabilities of the country in the sectors of cybersecurity and quantum technologies.

The Lux4QCI consortium includes academic, industrial and governmental partners.

The project will focus on the following use cases:

  • Focus on government communications and secure data centre connectivity
  • At least two use cases and test scenarios:
    • Use case 1: High-security key transport
    • Use case 2: Long-term secure storage

The main role of GRNET, which will participate as an associated partner, will be the exchange of know-how for the design and building of an overall system architecture for EuroQCI and the creation of interoperable, robust and fully secure QKD systems and networks.  There will also be a collaboration on international use cases.
