EBSI VErifiable Credentials & Trusted Organisations Registries (EBSI-VECTOR)
Funding
Digital Europe Programme
Duration
1/6/2023 - 1/5/2025
Description

The aim of the EBSI VErifiable Credentials & Trusted Organisations Registries (EBSI-VECTOR) project is to create a trusted framework for information exchange and accreditation that does not rely on large platforms or powerful central governmental organisations, improving capabilities in social security, credentials in education and extending technologies of the European Self-Sovereign Identity Framework (eSSIF), leveraging the existing capabilities and services of the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI).  The project’s benefits will redefine and expand the education and social security sector, giving control of data back to the citizens, facilitating travel, student mobility and employment opportunities across the European continent, protecting against fraud, increasing trust and security and making data authentication easy and efficient.  The creation of an EBSI-supported digital identification of legal entities is a very important new function/registry for the education and social security sectors, as well as others, offering a trusted way of accrediting citizen information. The role of GRNET is to develop technologies for the design and implementation of the European Self-Sovereign Identity Framework (ESSIF) using blockchain technologies based on EBSI. The technologies will be created based on the business requirements of the education and social security sector built by the EBSI technical team.
