The 3rd Hellenic Biocluster Forum, which took place on June 15-17, 2023, at the Megaron International Conference Center in Athens, featured the theme “Supporting disruptive innovation to maximize the economic and social impact of the bio-industry sector”, posing an opportunity to discuss about the possibilities offered by High Performance Computing (HPC).
EuroCC@Greece, a project coordinated by GRNET, participated in the 3rd Hellenic Biocluster Forum: on June 17th, industry champion Dr. Lena Kanellou gave a presentation during the workshop dedicated to start-ups, titled “Digital Transformation in the Healthcare Sector: How High-Performance Computing can Transform your Business”, which was co-hosted by the smartHEALTH European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH).
Specifically, EuroCC@Greece offered an interactive workshop that aimed at discussing the common perception of what HPC is and contrasting it with its actual capabilities, at exploring where and how HPC is applicable on life sciences and how it can benefit them, as well as at showing what the use of HPC can do for a business, both by exploring HPC success stories as well as by diving into what HPC can do for SMEs. The workshop also included a brief introduction to the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and the EuroCC project and their purpose, as well as a section informing on the resources that they have so far provided to the European HPC landscape, i.e. NCCs and their services, EuroHPC JU supercomputers.
