GRNET participates in Digital World Summit Greece 2025-AI Realities: Policy, Possibilities, Power

GRNET participates in the Digital World Summit Greece 2025, which takes place on Thursday 22 May 2025 at Technopolis Athens, at the Miltiadis Evert Amphitheatre.

The aim of the conference is to provide information on global technological developments in artificial intelligence and policy proposals that will meet the needs of the country.

The conference will focus on 3 main pillars:

 

  • Opportunities and challenges for Greece as a hotspot of technological progress
  • The next steps in AI Evolution and best practices
  • Safe development and use of AI

 

The discussions feature experts from the private and public sector, technical and academic communities, focusing on AI developments at national and global level.

GRNET participates in the conference, having extensive experience in digital transformation, as the technological advisor under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, as well as in AI issues, including coordinating the Pharos The Greek AI Factory project and being responsible for the creation and operation of the new national supercomputer DAEDALUS at Lavrion. 

 

GRNET participates in 2 panel discussions with members of its Board of Directors:

 

  • Stefanos Kollias, Professor Emeritus NTUA & Chairman of the Board of Directors GRNET, participates in the discussion panel at 11:15 – 12:30: “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and challenges for Greece as a hotspot of technological progress“.
  • Dimitris Katsianis, Assistant Professor NKUA & Deputy Chairman GRNET at 15:30 – 15:45, in the panel: “Safe development and use of AI”.

 

Digital World Summit Greece contributes to the global network of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF Network) and to the promotion of digital innovation and development in Greece by providing a forum for the exchange of views between institutional representatives, government and all stakeholders on national digital governance issues.

The conference is under the auspices of the United Nations, the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Municipality of Athens.
