Assessment of GRNET’s Participation at BEYOND 2025 – International Exhibition | Digital Technology and Innovation Conference , 4–6/04/2025

GRNET’s participation in BEYOND 2025, held in the Metropolitan Expo Athens, from April 4–6, 2025, concluded successfully.


The National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (GRNET S.A. – ΕΔΥΤΕ), operating under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, showcased its contributions to digital transformation during the event. GRNET was located in Hall 4 – Stand B02/C01 within the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance’s pavilion, presenting a range of innovative projects and services across Public Administration, Research, Education, Health, and Culture.

At the stand,  representatives from GRENT were available to provide information to attendees. Audiovisual content highlighting GRNET’s projects was displayed on tablets and large screens, including detailed presentations of the following initiatives:

  • The New National Supercomputer DAEDALUS,
  • EuroCC / EuroCC@Greece establishing National Competence Centers for High-Performance Computing (HPC), within the framework of the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), 
  • HellasQCI Project deploying the national quantum communication infrastructure network, coordinated by GRNET, aiming at enhancing the security of sensitive data and the critical infrastructures of Greece through quantum technology,
  • GRNET’s Green Data Centers,
  • The platform of the National Digital Academy and the available courses that will help citizens further develop their digital skills. 
  • The European Digital Innovation Hub for Digital Governance, GR digiGOV-innoHUB, supports the development of next-generation public services for central administration, local government, and productive sectors of the economy by leveraging advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and High-Performance Computing (HPC). Coordinated by GRNET, this initiative aims to foster digital transformation and innovation in public administration while promoting open-source software, open data, and open standards.
  • GR-IX The neutral and independent Internet Exchange for facilitating the exchange of internet traffic (IP) and accelerating the development of the Internet. GR-IX is a significant national infrastructure as it connects the largest internet companies in Greece, such as internet service providers, content providers, cloud service providers, and others.

GRNETs participation in detail

A total of 364 participants attended the panel discussions featuring GRNET representatives. 

As part of the official program, Stefanos Kollias, GRNET Chairman and Professor Emeritus at NTUA participated in two panel discussions:

  • Friday, April 4 | The Greek AI Factory Pharos – 180 people attended
  • Saturday, April 5 | Organizations and Businesses in Digital Transformation: From the Past to the Future – 90 people attended

These sessions explored the intersection of AI, HPC, and the digital evolution of public and private sectors. Professor Kollias emphasized GRNET’s role in coordinating national initiatives such as the Greek AI Factory – Pharos, and its strategic alignment with European HPC and digital innovation frameworks.

Dimitris Katsianis, GRNET Deputy Chairman and Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) participated on Friday, April 4, in the panel:

  • Leveraging Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for Next-Generation 6G Networks.  – 24 people attended

In his presentation, Assistant Professor Katsianis outlined the latest developments in AI-driven technologies and provided insights into GRNET’s next-generation infrastructures.

Additionally, Dimitris Mitropoulos, Head of GRNET’s Head of Reliability Engineering Directorate (GRE) and Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) participated on Saturday, April 5, in the panel: 

  • Research and AI – 25 people attended 

Panos Louridas, Director of GRNET’s Research & Development Department and Professor at the Department of Management Science and Technology, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) participated on Saturday, April 5 in a panel discussion at the session Case Study “Alphafold” by Google DeepMind: 

  • AlphaFold Available through the GRNET – Google Cloud Framework Agreement – 45 people attended

GRNET’s presence at BEYOND 2025 reaffirmed its strategic commitment to:

  • Advancing AI and HPC in Greece and Europe
  • Supporting cutting-edge academic research
  • Enhancing the Greece’s public digital infrastructure with DAEDALUS and AI Factory Pharos
  • Cultivating an ecosystem of innovation through collaboration with government, academia, and industry

As digital transformation accelerates, GRNET remains a vital pillar for the country’s technological and research development, powering the future of innovation, under the guidance of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance.
