GRNET Joins RI-SCALE: A new EU-funded Project Unlocking RI Potential with Scalable AI and Data

GRNET is proud to be part of the newly launched RI-SCALE project, an EU-funded project that brings together 29 partners across Europe to tackle challenges in research data exploitation. Coordinated by the EGI Foundation, the project officially started on March 1, 2025, and will run until February 2028. RI-SCALE aims to develop cutting-edge Data Exploitation Platforms (DEPs) to enhance the accessibility, usability, and impact of research data across multiple scientific domains.

Kickoff Meeting in Amsterdam

The project was officially launched during a Kickoff Meeting at Amsterdam Science Park from March 11 to 13, 2025. This gathering marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to co-design and validate AI-ready platforms, integrating advanced data analytics, machine learning models, and scalable computational frameworks to unlock the full potential of research infrastructures’ datasets.

GRNET’s Contribution to RI-SCALE

As a key partner in the project, GRNET will contribute to access management and accounting  technologies . Our expertise in providing authentication, authorisation and accounting solutions will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of this project.

Through its participation, GRNET  aims to drive innovation in  access management and accounting  technologies for the Data Exploitation Platforms.

Why RI-SCALE Matters

The ability to extract value from big data is becoming increasingly important as Research Infrastructures (RIs) generate ever-growing datasets. However, barriers such as limited computational resources and interoperability challenges hinder their reuse and impact. RI-SCALE’s Data Exploitation Platforms will bridge this gap, offering scalable, AI-ready solutions that will empower researchers to conduct transformative studies in fields such as climate science, atmospheric physics, biobanking, and biomedical imaging.
