{"id":21803,"date":"2026-01-14T14:08:59","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T12:08:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grnet.gr\/?post_type=wpbdp_listing&#038;p=21803"},"modified":"2026-02-26T11:16:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T09:16:54","slug":"seewqci-en","status":"publish","type":"wpbdp_listing","link":"https:\/\/grnet.gr\/en\/business-directory\/seewqci-en\/","title":{"rendered":"SEEWQCI"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>SEEWQCI (South-East European to Western European Quantum Communication Infrastructure) is a strategic project that aims to create a cross-border quantum communications network between Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The main objectives of SEEWQCI are:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>To develop a resilient quantum network that will ensure the secure transmission of sensitive data between government agencies, research institutions, and critical infrastructure.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Expanding and interconnecting the existing HellasQCI national infrastructure with the corresponding networks of the project partners, creating a miniature model of EuroQCI.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Integration of satellite quantum communications, using Optical Ground Stations (OGS) and the EAGLE-1 satellite, enhancing pan-European quantum connectivity.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Strengthening cooperation between participating countries, ensuring full interoperability with European initiatives.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The project includes both terrestrial (optical fiber) and satellite connections (QKD &#8211; Quantum Key Distribution) for secure data transmission.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The project offers multiple benefits, placing Greece and the wider region of Southeast Europe at the forefront of quantum communications, strengthening cybersecurity and Europe&#8217;s strategic autonomy in the field of digital infrastructure. In this way, it enhances communications security and interoperability within the EuroQCI (European Quantum Communication Infrastructure).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>GRNET&#8217;s role in the project involves participating in the implementation of the following objectives:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Project management, coordination, and governance<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Cross-border terrestrial connection between Greece and Bulgaria<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Cross-border space connections between Greece, Cyprus, and the Netherlands<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Quantum network control and management<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Demonstrations of terrestrial and space connectivity<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Communication, dissemination, and exploitation<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Participating Partners in the project:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/grnet.gr\/en\/\">National Infrastructures for Research and Technology S.A.
