GRNET participated, on April 2nd, in the 27th ICT Forum<\/a>, held as part of ICT World in Athens, with a focus on the strategic importance of digital transformation, the adoption of smart technological solutions and the utilization of AI, and the creation of new business and development models.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically, Dimitris Mitropoulos, Associate Professor, NKUA and Head of the Reliability Engineering Directorate at GRNET, participated in the session titled \u201cAI & ICT everywhere: Data Centers & Infrastructure Networks”, presenting the role of modern digital infrastructure in ensuring the resilience and reliability of critical services.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, D. Mitropoulos highlighted\u00a0 the role of GRNET in ensuring resilience through geographically distributed data centers, enabling not only disaster recovery but also active-active operation models for critical services.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the network level, the transition to 100G infrastructure was presented as a foundation for future demands, alongside the exploration of technologies such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) to enhance trust in selected, high-value connections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Particular emphasis was placed on the growing complexity of digital services and the \u201chidden\u201d risk arising from dependencies across applications, libraries, and infrastructure layers. It was noted that the key challenge is not only identifying vulnerabilities, but understanding their actual impact on critical services.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the importance of building trusted AI infrastructures was addressed, focusing on controlled execution environments (sandboxed processing), auditability mechanisms, and technologies such as confidential computing, which enable secure and transparent use of data.<\/span><\/p>\n
