On <\/span>5 and 6 February<\/b> 2026<\/b>, <\/span>GRNET<\/b>, Coordinator of the <\/span>HellasQCI<\/span><\/a> project, actively contributed to two consecutive workshops focusing on quantum preparedness and secure communications, strengthening collaboration at national and European level.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q-PrEP In-Person Workshop at NCSR \u201cDemokritos\u201d – 5 February, 2026<\/b><\/p>\n

Organised by the <\/span>Q-PrEP project<\/span><\/a> and held on <\/span>5 February<\/b> at the <\/span>National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”<\/span><\/a> in Athens, the<\/span> Q-PrEP (Quantum Preparedness) In-Person Workshop <\/b>brought together more than 100 experts and stakeholders from across Europe to address real-world challenges related to post-quantum security, quantum preparedness, and quantum-safe communication infrastructures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme combined strategic perspectives, technical insights, and interactive dialogue through keynote speeches and expert talks, thematic presentations, and focus panels addressing cryptographic migration, system-level risks in public IT infrastructures, and the integration of quantum-safe communications in the public domain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this framework, <\/span>Dr. Ilias Papastamatiou<\/b>, Senior Project Manager at GRNET and Coordinator of <\/span>HellasQCI<\/span><\/a>, delivered\u00a0 a keynote speech on strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure in Greece against cyber threats, highlighting the strategic importance of post-quantum readiness for national and European digital infrastructures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q-PrEP and HellasQCI Community Workshop at GRNET – 6 February 2026<\/b><\/p>\n

On <\/span>6 February<\/b>, a follow-up focused community workshop entitled \u201c<\/span>Strengthening Europe\u2019s Quantum Communication Ecosystem: Q-PrEP and HellasQCI<\/b>\u201d was held at the premises of <\/span>GRNET<\/span><\/a>, in cooperation with the Q-PrEP project and NCSR \u201cDemokritos\u201d, bringing together around 20 participants from the Greek and European quantum technologies and quantum communications ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop featured presentations on the HellasQCI project, updates from the Q-PrEP community and its partners, and an open discussion on collaboration opportunities across research, industry, and infrastructure initiatives in the field of quantum technologies. Participants represented a broad range of academic, industrial, and institutional stakeholders, including <\/span>Capgemini<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>NMWP Management<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>SMALS<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Deutsche Bundesbank<\/span><\/a>, as well as partners from the <\/span>HellasQCI<\/span><\/a> Consortium (<\/span>GRNET<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>NKUA<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>NCSR \u201cDemokritos\u201d<\/span><\/a>, and ICCS-<\/span>NTUA<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

On behalf of <\/span>GRNET <\/b>and the<\/span> HellasQCI project<\/b>,<\/span> Dr. Ilias Papastamatiou<\/b>, <\/span>Dr.<\/b> Alexis Aivaliotis<\/b>, and <\/span>Athina Anastasopoulou<\/b> presented the latest developments of HellasQCI, along with an overview of its next phase through the SEEWQCI and TransEuroOGS projects, underlining Greece\u2019s growing role in the evolving European quantum communication landscape. The workshop further enabled open discussion on collaboration opportunities and the future evolution of quantum-safe communication technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both workshops underscored the importance of coordinated national and European action, reinforcing GRNET\u2019s role in advancing quantum preparedness and supporting the transition towards secure, quantum-safe communication infrastructures.<\/span><\/p>\n
