This new system acquired by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and co-funded by France, the Netherlands and Greece, represented respectively by GENCI, together with the CEA, by SURF and by GRNET, will change the HPC scene and drive innovation and AI-drive science forward.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alice Recoque, named after a pioneering French computer scientist, will be Europe&#8217;s newest exascale supercomputer, capable of performing over one billion billion calculations per second: a task that would take a person with a calculator billions of years to complete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21328 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/grnet.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/unnamed1-300x101.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/grnet.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/unnamed1-300x101.png 300w, https:\/\/grnet.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/unnamed1-150x50.png 150w, https:\/\/grnet.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/unnamed1-500x168.png 500w, https:\/\/grnet.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/unnamed1.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designed to address Europe\u2019s most pressing societal, scientific and industrial challenges, it will integrate large-scale numerical simulation, data analytics, AI capabilities and early hybrid quantum computing capabilities within a single, energy-efficient environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project represents a total investment of <\/span><b>\u20ac 554 million<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over five years of operations, and the <\/span><b>installation and deployment will start in 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Alice Recoque plans to address societal, environmental, and scientific challenges, from modelling climate change, accelerating medical research, developing next-generation AI frontier and agentic models, to catalyzing material science using hybrid quantum computing. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Anders Jensen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, EuroHPC JU Executive Director stated: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Europe has officially entered the exascale era, I am delighted to soon welcome Alice Recoque to our EuroHPC fleet.
