For more than two decades, <\/span>National Infrastructures for Research and Technology<\/b>\u00a0 – <\/span>GRNET<\/b>, operating under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence<\/span>,<\/b> has been at the heart of Greece\u2019s digital transformation in research and education. As the country\u2019s national e-Infrastructure provider, GRNET enables cutting-edge services for scientists, students, and innovators \u2014 seamlessly connecting Greece with the global research ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

From high-speed networks through <\/span>GEANT<\/b>, to advanced Cloud and High-Throughput Computing with <\/span>EGI – Advanced Computing Services for Research<\/b>, to data management via <\/span>EUDAT Collaborative Data Infrastructure<\/b>, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) with <\/span>PRACE<\/b> and <\/span>EuroHPC<\/b>, GRNET has consistently been a trusted partner in Europe\u2019s flagship e-Infrastructure initiatives. Today, it also plays a central role in shaping the future of the <\/span>European Open Science Cloud <\/b>(<\/span>EOSC<\/b>) as an active member of the EOSC Association.<\/span><\/p>\n

GRNET \u2013 has taken another bold step in digital preservation.\u00a0 Recognizing that <\/span>software is as vital to our cultural heritage as are books and scientific data<\/b>,\u00a0 GRNET is expanding its commitment to Open Science by contributing to <\/span>Software Heritage by hosting a<\/b> Software Heritage Mirror<\/b><\/a> in partnership with <\/span>National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology<\/b> <\/a>(Inria). \u03a4he starting point was the <\/span>FAIRCORE4EOSC<\/b><\/a> project through which GRNET successfully deployed a Software Heritage Mirror\u00a0 \u2014 a complete, independent copy of the world\u2019s largest universal source code archive on GRNET\u2019s\u00a0 datacentres.<\/span><\/p>\n

By hosting and operating a dedicated Software Heritage Mirror, GRNET will ensure that Europe\u2019s research and innovation community \u2014 and particularly EOSC \u2014 benefits from reliable access to this invaluable digital resource.
